Getting to Hotel Los Sueños

The international airport at Zihuatanejo (ZIH) is served by several US and Canadian airlines, as well as Mexican airlines. In less than a day, you can leave your world behind, and discover the paradise that is Los Sueños, Troncones!

Directions

The village is about 35 kms (+/- 35 minutes) north of the airport.

By Taxi: A taxi to Troncones is MX1000 (about $65 USD depending on the exchange rate). The return trip is about MX1000. ($65 USD). When available, a Suburban costs more but has a capacity of 8 adult passengers.

By Car: You can rent a car at the airport (Hertz, Alamo, Budget, Thrifty and National). There are also a few local rental companies, which usually offer slightly older vehicles. Always check your rental vehicle for damage and a spare tire before you sign for it. Taking photos is not a bad idea! When driving, follow Mex200 (Zihuatanejo-Lazaro Cardenas) north through Zihuatanejo and continue to the turnoff to Troncones (about 25 miles).

NOTE: If you make rental arrangements online with one of the major auto rental companies, the “confirmed” rate may not include Mexican auto insurance, which you are required to have in Mexico. Your American auto insurance is not valid in Mexico. Insurance from your credit card is not accepted. Mexico requires Mexican insurance, nothing else. Do not be surprised if the rate you are required to pay when you arrive in Mexico is much higher than what you were quoted online.

By Bus: Combis and buses are not regularly scheduled, and often are only going to Zihuatanejo, so sometimes there is a wait involved. Some combis will take riders to the bus stop at the top of the Troncones road. Or your combi to Zihuatanejo can take you to the bus, which can take you to the Troncones road. At that point, you wait for a combi from Troncones, or you hitch a ride with a passing car. Be adventurous and be prepared for a possibly long trip.

In Town: Taxis are plentiful in Troncones to get around the immediate area, as well as for transport to the airport.
